Custard Raisin Pie

1 c Raisins
3/4 c Water
2 Eggs, separated
2 tblsp. Cornstarch
1 tblsp. Butter
3/4 c Sugar
Pinch of Salt
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
1 c Milk
1 Pre baked 9-inch pie shell

Combine raisins, with water, cook about 5 minutes in sauce pan, remove from heat, and cool. Mix egg yolks, cornstarch, butter, sugar, salt, vanilla, and milk in sauce pan. Cook until mixture thickens, stirring constantly. Stir in raisin mixture. Pour into pie shell. Put egg white in small bowl, add sugar to taste, whip into stiff peaks. Spread over pie. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes of until lightly brown.
