One Holiday when we were living in Arkansas,I was making a Pumpkin Pie had all the ingredients together,put them in the pie pan and baked them,our friends said the pie was good but what kind of pumpkin had I used because it was so light,I told them I had used the same as I always had and went to show them the label,low and behold there set the contents of the pumpkin,I had forgot to put it in.LOL.but they still liked it.

Bat Crust
I always do Thanksgiving for my family every year. A couple of years ago was a really busy year. My daughter was graduating CNA College the night before. I was rushing to get everything done and get to her Graduation. I was going to make the pies and discovered I was two Pie plates short. I live 20 miles from the nearest store so I decided I would wait until after the graduation and pick up some pie pans, make the pies that night after I got home. Graduation went great and I rushed to the store got the pie pans and headed home to get the pies done. Then I noticed my rolling pin was gone. I realized my daughter had borrowed it along with the pie plates I was missing. By this time it was 10 o'clock at night so rather than go all the way back to town. I started searching for the next best thing to roll out the pie crust. I found a small plastic bat that was my grandsons. I cleaned it and rolled the dough. To this day only a few people know that the delicious pie they had for thanksgiving was rolled by a bat. By the way, my daughter bought me a real nice rolling pin for christmas that year.

Squash Pie
Every year for christmas my Mom makes squash pie. Most of us love it and look forward to a piece. One christmas she had made a few to many and I was offered a whole pie to take home. I was full from the meal and was happy I could have a piece later. After loading up my three kids, husband and all the gifts, I sat the pie between my feet in the floor so the kids wouldn't dump it or something fall on it. On the trip home the kids were tired and noisy and I was ready to put them to bed real soon. In my haste to get out of the car and get them unloaded, I put my foot right in the middle of the pie. I almost cried, then my son from the back seat said, now we know why they call it squash pie.
